||Dr. Andreas Wittmer (1973) is Managing Director of the Center for Aviation Competence at the University of St. Gallen. Furthermore he holds a position as Deputy Director at the Institute for Systemic Management and Public Governance at the University of St. Gallen. His research interests cover consumer behaviour, marketing and service management in transport and tourism and especially air transport where he lectures internationally and published various research papers and book chapters. Furthermore, he published his own book called Aviation Systems, which is internationally used for teaching aviation management. He is member of the editorial board of the International Journal of Aviation Management and Editor of the CFAC-The Aviation Series.
He leads different ongoing projects within the fields of tourism, transport. He is a lecturer at the University of St. Gallen, the Modul University in Vienna, the Management Center Innsbruck, the Zurich University of Applied Science, and the University of Applied Science in Chur, where he holds the position "head of major transportation" and other international Universities, where he holds guest lectures irregularly. He teaches Marketing, Aviation Systems, Air Transport Economics, Air Transport Management, Transport Revolutions, Network Management, New Business Models and International Business.
He has studied a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree at the Aarhus School of Business in Denmark and the University of Newcastle in the UK. Furthermore, he finished a Master of Science in Finance and International Business degree at the Aarhus School of Business in Denmark and the Université Libre de Bruxelles. His doctoral degree was about the influence of cultures on internal services and was conducted at the Institute for Public Services and Tourism at the University of St. Gallen, the Australian Graduate School of Management at the University of New South Wales in Sydney and the National University of Singapore. After finishing his doctoral degree he decided to set up the Center for Aviation Competence at the University of St. Gallen together with Prof. Dr. Roland Müller, who was the initiator and together with several partner Institutes at the University of St. Gallen. Before and during his studies he collected several years of practical research experiences from private consulting companies in Denmark, Belgium and Switzerland. Furthermore, he spend several years working at accounting consultancies and the bank Credit Suisse.
Furthermore, he holds the position of Vice President of the Swiss Aerospace Cluster and is member of the airspace commission of the national Aeroclub Switzerland. He is a freelance part time aircraft accident investigator at the aircraft accident investigation office of Switzerland and was team captain of the Swiss national gliding team for four years and managed the team successfully at two European and two World Gliding Championships. Furthermore he was president of the Eastern Swiss Aeroclub organisation in Switzerland for 5 years.
